Progress on the recording has slowed slightly – between the Thanksgiving holiday and a bunch of recent housecleaning, I haven’t had a ton of time for recording. Worry not, because I do not intend this to become the noise-cassette equivalent of Chinese Democracy<\/em>. Seriously. I think the next thing to do is fix my MG-1 (remember, repairs count as DIY in the rules I set for myself) and then go all John Carpenter on this thing – I was just listening to some of the music from Assault on Precinct 13<\/em>, and was kind of inspired.<\/p>\n

That said, now onto something else. I’m a fan of Belgian New Beat<\/a>. For whatever reason, I was poking around Wikipedia and reading about Ghent<\/a> and Destelbergen<\/a> – kind of the historical birthplace of the genre. I then noticed a “parish within the municipality” of Ghent called Desteldonk<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Time for a contest: First person to take some New Beat (something old-school, something recent, something you made that sounds right – I’m not that picky), put a bangin’ donk on it<\/a>, and post a link to it in the comments here gets a free copy of the recording once it comes out.
