{"id":340,"date":"2008-12-29T21:56:55","date_gmt":"2008-12-30T01:56:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.glacialcommunications.com\/news\/?p=340"},"modified":"2008-12-29T21:56:55","modified_gmt":"2008-12-30T01:56:55","slug":"rack-in-search-of-future-sdiy-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glacialcommunications.com\/news\/2008\/12\/rack-in-search-of-future-sdiy-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Rack in search of future SDIY projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My employer threw this rack out:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3196\/3148438963_38caf86041_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I thought, &#8220;hey, this might be reasonably similar to a Frac-Rack enclosure, and if not, I&#8217;ll find some use for it&#8221;, so I took it home, along with the seven line cards in it (if nothing else, I can use the panels\u00c2\u00a0 for LFOs, or something). Once I got it home, I measured it, and it seems to be Frac-sized. Right height, right width, close enough to the depth of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paia.com\/proddetail.asp?prod=FR-7\">Paia enclosure<\/a> (just a hair under 7&#8243;), and the hole spacing seems close to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blacet.com\/FPtyp.jpg\">Blacet guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I think the current plan now is to put the SN-Voice and Mega Percussive Synthesizer (with its eleventy-billion knobs and jacks) into the non-standard-sized <a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/glacial23\/3006144333\/\">cabinet I built in November<\/a>. Then, maybe once those are done, I can start filling up this enclosure with modules of some sort.
