No, we weren’t hacked. At least not by meddlesome troublemakers from OUTSIDE the site 
My build-a-podcast code had a SERIOUS bug in the aging code(i.e. not targeting only the podcast directory), which kinda nuked pretty much anything not updated on the site in the last, oh, 6-8 weeks or so. crap.
As a short-term fix, this “news” blog is going to become the frontpage. Then I’ll deal with all the other fixes later. Perhaps a proper CMS to deal with the catalog stuff (or I’ll just use WP categories, like I’d thought about earlier).
Does anyone even read this anymore?
